As a relatively new member of the colour by numbers community, my experience with acrylic markers is limited, but I have tried a few different brands - which I'll review later, so I can make some comparisons and hopefully review these Nicety Acrylic Markers fairly.
Honestly, before recommending a brand I'd recommend quantity, the amount of shades some of the pages require can be a lot, so being able to pick near accurate colours from a single set of pens is my main piece of advice.
So with that I decided on the set of 264 colours, that looked to be the most pens I could get for a half-decent cost, full price these should have been around £60.00, when I purchased these, they were on offer at £45.00 and I had a voucher so ended up paying less than £30.00 for this set, so to get 264 colours for that price was amazing.
And, that brings me onto my second measure of pen choice; cost. Get the most amount of colours for your budget. I'll be honest, you will always need more shades, so if you're just starting out, buy the most amount of colours you can afford, and then expand your collection later.
So with that, I think these are a great, budget-friendly (especially on offer) to some of the more premium brands. The ink dries relatively quickly, so blending colours isn't really possible, but depending on how thick you've applied it, the coverage is pretty decent, with some colours requiring multiple layers. They don't bleed through the page either. Most colours, even the lights, like white, will cover darker colours, allowing for mistakes to be corrected quite easily. Oh and don't forget to give your pens a shake, especially on the first use.
Nicety Acrylic Markers Review Breakdown
4.2/5
Coverage
Majority of colours cover really well, darker shades especially, I have noticed that lighter shades of greens, reds & yellows tend to require multiple layers of ink. Whilst it's something to contend with, most brands also have this issue.
4.5/5
Comfort
The pens are a good size, not too big or small, and will fit most hand sizes with no issue. I have a tendency to grip pens & pencils a little hard, so they do leave an impression in my finger after some use, but not uncomfortable.
3.2/5
Colour accuracy
Again, as with most brands, especially cheap to mid-priced pens, the colour of the cap doesn't always match the ink, which can be a little frustrating when trying to swatch colours for a page, the actual ink colour is great once the ink dries, so my recommendation would be to swatch all of your colours onto card so you can swatch individual pages based of dried ink. Some of the oranges can be a little bright, which does leave a gap in the overall colour options.
4/5
Final verdict
Overall, a great set of pens, I would recommend the higher number of pens to get the most out of them. Some issues with colour selection, but using a completed swatch card, negates this, and the actual colours on paper are great. I would definitely recommend, and have done to fellow colour by number creators.
